世界佛教友誼會是國際性機構，港澳分區總會成立於一九五二年十月。由香港澳門四眾比丘、比丘尼、男居士及女居士佛教徒組成。並於該年之十月註冊為合法社團。其宗旨為弘法利生及促進人民福祉，致力於社會和諧人民安樂為目的。一九六九年註冊為有限公司，一九七六年批准成為慈善之非牟利組織，辦理社會福利及幼兒教育事業。
本會在過去六十年間，開設免費佛學星期班，參與大型佛教利生活動，及有關文化和義務工作，提高香港國際地位，編印及出版典籍刊物，捐助慈善救濟事業，對安定社會改善世界和諧方面作出貢獻。
本會於一九八一年一月開始投入幼兒服務，開辦幼兒中心，到現在辦有三間幼兒學校，分別位於青衣之文殊幼兒學校、屯門之真言宗幼兒學校及之觀自在幼兒學校。本會之辦學理念為幼兒提供全方位優良學習環境，完善及多元化的學前教育服務，使其知識、技能、合群及獨立思考能力得以發展，各學校注重多元智能，舉行親子活動，同學間互助慈悲的美德，提供兼收、暫託、延展等服務。並與區內各慈善社團合作，舉各種利益社群活動。
