香港單親協會成立於90年代初，服務至今已超過廿五載。本協會的成立是始於一群單親人士的親身經歷，他們在成為單親過程中，體會到社會的忽略、社會福利及政策的不完善，遂於1991年在一群熱心義工及社會人士的協助下成立了「關注單親人士會」，爭取單親的權益，並於同年註冊成為非牟利社團。
